Lippitt Mill

The Lippitt Mill, individually listed on the National Register, is known to have been the oldest, continually operating, wooden textile mill in the country. Built in 1810, the three and a half–story timber–framed mill ceased cloth dying operations in 2011. The renovations include an adaptive reuse of the historic mill for 65 market rate & affordable housing units. Amenities will include a community/cafe space, business center & fitness center. State of Rhode Island Historic Tax Credits and Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives are being utilized to help fund the project.
