A fixture on Main Street in Middletown, O’Rourke’s was seriously damaged in a fire. The owner had no insurance but the community rallied around and worked with him to renovate and refit the diner. The NCA team researched historic documentation for the commercial project and recreated the diner with period details.
The Blue Dory is a quaint inn adjacent to Block Island’s Old Harbor. NCA designed the rehabilitation of this turn-of-the-century structure, returning the architectural detail to the Victorian style. The commercial property consists of an 11 room bed and breakfast, with three smaller cottages renovated as additional guest quarters.
NCA designed the Boathouse Restaurant, which is situated in Waterplace Park on the Woonasquatucket River. The commercial project has an interior that is finished with fine paneling and woodwork and decorated with nautical antiques and photography. Each of three levels has its own outdoor balcony overlooking the water below.
