NCA Partner Dan Weston, AIA and NCA Project Manager John Scheib, AIA, LEED AP BD + C presented at the American Institute of Architects’ Committee on Architecture for Education  Summer Conference in Boston, Massachusetts. The conference was held in conjunction with the Council for Educational Facilities Planners International. The theme of the conference was “Design Thinking Shaping Learning Environments:  In a complex 24/7 wired world, how do we create learning experiences that are engaging, stimulating and inspire creativity?”

Dan and John’s presentation was entitled: Handling Hands-On: Retrofitting Technical Learning Environments to Optimize Project-Based Learning.  Their presentation demonstrated how planning, space-shaping, and technology transform schools into innovative learning environments.  Technical and Art education engage students in problem solving and exemplify collaboration, exploration, and student-centered learning. Handling Hands-On also examined retrofitted schools that maximize project-based learning, review critical planning steps, and demonstrate the art of creating dynamic spaces.
